The therapists at Life in Balance Therapy work with adolescents and adults. They each have education and experience in a number of different modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness based practices, psychodynamic approaches, and cognitive -behaviour therapy. You can read more in each therapists' bio on this site.
We provide individual therapy, group based therapy, and some family therapy. We do not conduct assessments for learning disabilities, ADHD, or Autism Spectrum Disorders.
We do not typically provide services that are paid for by third parties such as WSIB or long-term disability.
In the case of an emergency, please proceed directly to your nearest Emergency Room, CAMH Emergency (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health at 1051 Queen St. West, Toronto, Ontario), call 911 or the Kids Help Phone at tel:1-800-668-6868.
Each therapist at Life in Balance Therapy manages their own waiting list and schedule. If you are interested in meeting with one of us, please email us directly to let us know of your interest.
We will use email to arrange a brief phone consultation during which we will ask you about your concerns and give you an opportunity to ask questions about how we practice. There is no charge for the initial consultation call.
As of January 2023, all sessions at Life in Balance Therapy remain virtual. We hope to open our doors for in person sessions this year, however, we will continue to offer virtual sessions.
A typical session runs for 50 minutes but sometimes a longer session time will be negotiated for various reasons.
For the most part, sessions take place on the same day each week, at the same time, to provide structure and predictability for the process. Frequency may vary depending in individual circumstances and availability.
Please arrive on time for the session as your therapist will not be able to extend your session to accommodate lateness and we want to ensure you receive your full appointment.
Psychological services are not covered by Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP).
However, fees may be covered or partially reimbursed if you have private health insurance.
Fees not covered by your insurance can be claimed with your taxes as a medical health expense. The impact of this will depend on your personal tax profile.
Currently we accept cheques and e-transfers after each session.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. That means that you are free to cancel or reschedule your appointments as long as you give us at least at least 24 hours notice. If for any reason you have to cancel or miss an appointment without giving us notice at least 24 hours beforehand, you will be financially responsible for the full session fee.
I am committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. As a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, I follow the standards of the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
